The Kentucky Board of Medical Examiners

2008 Kentucky Coroners Conference

The 2008 Kentucky Coroners Conference was held April 22-25 at the Holiday Inn-Hurstborne in Louisville, Ky. A total of 150 people attended the 2 1/2 day conference. This year's conference allowed 45 registered Kentucky coroners and deputy coroners to once again obtain training credit with the Department of Criminal Justice Training.

The keynote speaker this year was Dr. Marcella Fierro, Retired Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Virginia. Dr. Fierro discussed the "Virginia Tech Shootings" and information on "DNA in Forensic Pathology".

Wednesday evening, Tera Martin of Emergency Equipment Specialist of Paducah provided tickets for a night of laughs to the Comedy Caravan in Louisville and Thursday 40 people boarded the Start of Louisville for food, dancing, and a beautiful cruise on the Ohio River.

This year several vendors provided information and products for purchase by those in attendance. The Kentucky Association of Counties sponsored our Hospitality Room each night. Some of the exhibitors were: Borden Mortuary Group, Coffman Mortuary Parlor, Dodge Company, Emergency Equipment Specialist of Paducah, Ky., KY Lions Eye Bank of Lexington and Louisville, KODA, KY Violent Death Reporting System, MADD, MP Emergency Equipment, Noon Mortuary Services, SIDS Network of Kentucky.

Make plane to join us next year in April for the 2009 conference. You can obtain your annual training while enjoying the nightlife.
